Uzbekistan–Netherlands Agricultural Symposium Marks New Stage in Bilateral Cooperation

Tashkent, 13 April 2026

The Benelux Chamber of Commerce in Uzbekistan participated as a co-organizing partner in the Uzbekistan–Netherlands Agricultural Symposium, held today at Tashkent State Agrarian University. The event served as an important milestone in advancing agricultural cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, reflecting the growing depth of bilateral engagement in the sector.

The symposium represented a practical continuation of agreements reached during recent high-level exchanges between the two countries and contributed to strengthening a strategic partnership grounded in mutual trust and shared economic interests.

The event brought together a high-level Dutch delegation led by Lianna Kersbergen, alongside representatives of ministries and agencies, research institutions, higher education establishments, leading companies, international organizations, and business communities from both countries.

Discussions focused on key priorities including the modernization of agriculture, increasing productivity, the introduction of resource-efficient technologies, strengthening the integration of science and practice, and the development of new investment projects. The symposium provided a practical platform for the exchange of expertise, dialogue on advanced solutions, and identification of new areas for cooperation.

Participants emphasized the long-term strategic importance of Uzbekistan–Netherlands cooperation, noting its role in promoting agricultural innovation across Central Asia. The Netherlands was highlighted as a global leader in high-efficiency and innovation-driven agriculture, while Uzbekistan offers significant agricultural potential and a strong foundation for the effective localization of advanced practices.

In this context, priority areas for further cooperation include phytosanitary safety, seed development systems, greenhouse modernization, horticulture and fruit production, the deployment of advanced agrotechnologies, and collaboration in agricultural education and research.

The Chamber underscored that ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan aimed at modernizing agriculture, increasing value-added production, expanding export capacity, and the implementation of modern technologies create favorable conditions for enhanced international cooperation, including with Dutch partners.

Positive dynamics in bilateral engagement were also noted, with steady growth in trade turnover reflecting expanding economic ties between the two countries.

Within the framework of the symposium, a number of agreements and memoranda are expected to be concluded, alongside the advancement of concrete joint projects. B2B meetings, presentations, and negotiations held during the event created a solid foundation for attracting direct investment, fostering partnerships, and facilitating the practical implementation of innovative technologies.

These initiatives are expected to contribute to improving agricultural productivity, ensuring the efficient use of water and land resources, expanding export volumes, and strengthening food security.

The Benelux Chamber of Commerce in Uzbekistan will continue to support the development of this cooperation through structured dialogue, facilitation of partnerships, and promotion of joint initiatives between Uzbek and Benelux stakeholders.

The symposium is regarded as a significant step in reinforcing a reliable and long-term partnership between Uzbekistan and the Netherlands, while laying a solid foundation for innovation-driven growth in the agricultural sector.
